SAMPLE OF COMMUNITY INITIATIVES:

What you can do for your community:
 
1.  Organize a parent workshop and support group.

2.  Develop an abstinence eudcation newsletter.  Send it to clergy, health officials
     and community groups.

3.  Open a youth counseling service or after school club.

4.  Organize a youth rally.

5.  Inititate an advertising campaign.

6.  Donate books and videos to the public library, the school and video outlets.

7.  Start a peer drama team.

8.  Form a family- to- family mentoring program.

9.  Provide integrity awards for students that exhibit exemplary character.
 

What you can do for your school:

1.  Know what is taught and how the program can be supplemented with
     good resources.

2.  Provide teachers with abstinence education speakers.

3.  Offer to set up a resource display in the teachers' staff room.

4.  Offer to order pamphlets for distribution to students

5.  Train and launch a peer mentoring program
 
6.  Suggest topics for student projects that relate to sexual abstinence.

7.  Start a student support group that meets over lunch hour.
