The Science of Relationships

Human relationships have long been a source of fascination for many scientists, whether it deals with friendships, dating or marital couples. The science of relationships offers a fascinating and challenging area for research and study.

When social scientists looks at relationships, they work to see how each person enters into the relationship, how they interact with one another and how outside influences affect the relationship. This is especially unique in situations where people are taking online college courses. This new way of interacting with another person through a computer, especially through online social and dating sites, has changed how relationships are formed. This is one area that researchers are increasingly looking into.

Online dating has created a unique situation where people test, get to know and interact with each other for a long time before they ever meet. The impact that this has on the long-term nature of a relationship offers an interesting point of study for researchers. They can readily compare traditional ways of meeting a mate versus using a computer dating program to do so. This interesting new phenomenon in society has created a different avenue for people to interact and eventually walk down the aisle together.

There is also the affect that technology has on our daily, short-term interactions with others. People can now shop from home, ordering almost anything that was once carried in local stores. With these new changes, social scientists will be delving into new areas of the science of relationships.
